HMS Edinburgh on sale after city turns down ship
HMS Edinburgh has gone on sale after Edinburgh City Council decided against buying the former warship to use as a tourist attraction.
City leaders had originally been keen to bring the ship ‘home’ to port next to the Royal Yacht Britannia, however renovation costs were said to be too high.
While buying and the ship and bringing it to Leith would cost just over £1m, restoring it was thought to cost a further £9.15m
