HIV diagnosis delay concern

TOO many HIV sufferers in Edinburgh are being diagnosed late, meaning they miss out on key treatment, a charity has said.

Although new cases in what is Scotland's HIV capital appear to be declining, there are still concerns about those who have the disease and don't know it.

Catherine Murphy, spokeswoman for the Terrence Higgins Trust in Scotland, said: "In 2010, nearly half the people diagnosed with HIV in Scotland were diagnosed late, after a point when they should have started treatment."
