Hitting at
harassment

A CITY organisation battling street harassment held a feminist workshop day looking at ways to combat the problem.

Hollaback Edinburgh, part of the larger Hollaback network that originated in New York, defines street harassment as any sexual harassment of women that happens in public places, and urged women to share their stories.

The group has received support from the Scottish Parliament, in a motion put forward by Malcolm Chisholm, Labour MSP for Edinburgh North and Leith. The workshop included discussions on the best way to deal with harassers and a talk from a member of Scottish Women’s Aid about the link between street harassment and domestic violence.
