Quinn, 29, has been training with the Easter Road club following his departure from Doncaster Rovers at the beginning of the season, and a deal could be thrashed out in time for Hibernian’s match with Dumbarton on Saturday.

The former Motherwell captain is expected to sign a deal until the end of the season, with his arrival providing some much-needed cover in the right back position.

David Gray missed last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Raith Rovers after picking up a hamstring injury during the 3-1 win over Rangers at Ibrox, with Stubbs forced to play Lewis Stevenson in the right wing back position, while Callum Booth filled in on the left.

Quinn, who played 180 games for Motherwell, joined Cardiff City in a £300,000 deal in 2009, spending three seasons in Wales before joining Doncaster in 2012.
