Help keep rescued pets wrapped up

The Scottish SPCA is urging animal lovers to donate blankets to help keep hundreds of homeless animals warm this winter.

The charity cared for more than 900 unwanted and abandoned cats and dogs in December alone last year and expect this winter to be even busier.

Staff at their animal rescue and rehoming centre in Edinburgh are desperate to make sure all the pets in their care are kept cosy and comfortable throughout the colder months.

A spokeswoman said: “Due to the high volume of animals coming into our care we get through a huge amount of blankets.

“Unfortunately some animals can find kennel life very stressful, so blankets often get ripped and torn which means we have to replace them frequently.

“We’re appealing to the public to hand in new or used blankets that are clean and in good condition.”
