CHILDREN will be encouraged to design their own bike helmets under a new initiative designed to reduce the number of young cyclists killed on Scottish roads.
National charity The Bicycle Helmet Initiative Trust is behind the competition.
The project’s aims are to teach children the importance of bicycle safety and urge youngsters to wear helmets.
Entrants will be asked to draw a design that will be used on a new helmet manufactured by Lazer. The helmets will be distributed to disadvantaged youngsters who are unable to access to their own equipment.
The competition is open to all primary schools across the Lothians.
Registrations can be made at www.wd40.co.uk/helmet.
