Hearts make their mark with award

Hearts have become the first football club in Britain to retain a ComunityMark award.

The club first landed the prestigious honour in 2008 and have been awarded it again for their Big Hearts Community Trust.

Through the trust, the club hasve demonstrated their support to the local community, including the Aegon Breakfast Clubs in primary schools, raising money for other charities such as Maggie’s Centre, grassroots coaching courses for kids and a full programme of education and employment initiatives.

CommunityMark is the UK’s only national standard that publicly recognises business excellence in community investment.

Tam Hendry, head of corporate responsibility at the trust, said: “The renewal of our CommunityMark award is a fantastic achievement and shows that Heart of Midlothian is a club which has the wellbeing of the wider community at its very core. That this prestigious award is only given to a small number of premier brand UK companies is evidence of the quality and commitment of Hearts to being a positive force in the community.”
