Health project in good nick

A PROJECT to improve health inequalities in Lothian youngsters has been applauded.

The Support from the Start initiative was launched in East Lothian 18 months ago and results are now beginning to come through.

The aim was to improve the health and wellbeing of babies born to poverty-hit families.

The project involved NHS Lothian, East Lothian Council and Queen Margaret University.

John Boyce, a public health practitioner for the East Lothian Community Health Partnership, said: "Children can suffer inequalities in health and wellbeing at various stages of their life."
