Headmaster
to take leave
of Loretto

THE headmaster at a private school is set to step down after five years in the role.

Peter Hogan plans to leave Musselburgh-based Loretto School – which counts Alistair Darling and Andrew Marr among its former pupils – at the start of the summer term.

Parents were told of his resignation in a letter sent by chairman of the governors, Colonel Simon Graham.

Colonel Graham said: “Having successfully completed the task of transforming a number of key areas of Loretto’s operations, not without personal cost, Peter felt it to be right for the school and for him to hand over, allowing a successor to capitalise on what he has achieved.

“Peter Hogan goes with our best wishes.”

He added that Elaine Logan, former deputy vice-gerent, would become acting head for the summer term.
