HBO teases fans with Game Of Thrones footage ahead of final season

First-look footage from the upcoming final series of Game Of Thrones shows Jon Snow and his half-sister Sansa Stark reuniting again.

The footage was shown as part of a teaser trailer from American broadcaster HBO, which promoted a host of upcoming new shows and returning favourites including Game Of Thrones, Big Little Lies and True Detective.

In a tweet, it wrote alongside the video: “Let the countdown begin.”

The epic fantasy series, based on the books penned by George RR Martin, will air its final series in 2019.

The new footage shows Jon Snow (played by Kit Harington) and Sansa (played by Sophie Turner) embracing.

Last month, the US network confirmed that shooting on the first of four Game of Thrones TV spin-offs is to begin in Belfast this October, and Scotland could also be in line for an appearance.

Location scouts for the new show have been eyeing up Skye for potential outdoor filming spots, according to reports.

Scotland has made a fleeting appearance in Game of Thrones before, with Doune Castle standing in as Winterfell in the pilot episode, but this would be the first time the franchise has spent any considerable time here, with the main show primarily shot in Belfast, Croatia and Spain.
