Haulage boss on driving charge

A FORMER director of the Eddie Stobart haulage empire has been charged with drink-driving.

Edward Stobart, a son of the company's founder Eddie Stobart, was arrested in the early hours of Saturday by Warwickshire Police on suspicion of driving over the limit.

The 55-year-old, who was a director with the transport group until 2004, lives near Stratford-upon-Avon and is reported to have been driving a Mercedes when he was stopped in south Warwickshire.

Stobart is due to appear at Stratford magistrates' court on Wednesday April 28.
