Haddington blaze probe

A FIRE which broke out at an empty house in the early hours of yesterday morning is being treated as suspicious by police.

Emergency crews were called to the property in Herdmanflatt in Haddington, East Lothian, at around 3.25am. No- one was in the house at the time and a joint police and fire service investigation is under way.

A Lothian and Borders Police spokesman said: “Fortunately the house was empty when the fire started, as it seems the flames took hold quickly and there could have been a far more devastating outcome. This fire is being treated as suspicious.”
