Gymnasts shape up for new contest

Young gymnasts from across Scotland have been invited to take part in a new contest to be held in Haddington.

The recreational gymnastics competition, organised by the East Lothian Gymnastics Development Forum, will be held at Aubigny Sports Centre on Friday, November 25.

Invitations were sent to classes organised by Enjoyleisure and East Lothian Council looking for entries from youngsters aged five and over.

Staged within the main sports, entrants will be judged on two events – a floor routine and the vault.

Event organiser and East Lothian gymnastics co-ordinator Tracey Laing said: “We are so excited to be organising the first ever gymnastics competition in East Lothian.

“During their coached sessions the children learn and develop new skills every week.

“This event is a testament to the progress that they have each made over the term.”

Parents, family and guests will be able to attend the event, which kicks off at 1.30pm.
