Gulf veteran gets 4 years

AN ex-soldier who turned to sex and drugs to blot out memories of Iraq has been jailed for four years for a string of offences.

The High Court in Edinburgh heard a search of Robin Schreiber's home by police investigating the death of his lover, Arlene Gerchie, 23, found 1,200 video clips of sex acts.

Schreiber, 38, was originally accused of recklessly supplying Ms Gerchie with the fatal drug but a culpable homicide charge was dropped. Schreiber, formerly of Brisbane Street, Livingston, admitted six charges, including assaulting Ms Gerchie.

Defence QC Mark Stewart said Gulf veteran Schreiber had sought to deal with post traumatic stress disorder "by self-medicating with alcohol and controlled drugs".
