Green light for mill demolition

PLANS to demolish one of the most historic buildings in Angus are expected to get the go-ahead today – despite opposition from local residents.

B-listed Milton Mill, to the west of Monifieth, was built in 1788 for flax spinning. It is believed to be the oldest surviving water-powered flax mill in the area.

But it was badly damaged by fire four years ago, and councillors are expected to approve plans by developer H&H Properties UK to knock it down and build 14 mews-style homes on the site.
