Greece: Public sector strike kicks off protests

Workers at Greek public transport services and a state-owned bank began strikes yesterday, starting a week of protests against a shake-up of industrial rules.

Public transport in Athens halted for more than six hours, a day before parliament was due to vote on changes that include pay cuts for public servants and reduced collective bargaining rights in the private sector.
