Grangemouth man faces jail for stabbing brother twice

A MAN who stabbed his brother twice in the arm '“ on one occasion plunging the blade in more than an inch deep '“ was today facing jail.

Falkirk Sheriff Court.

Paul McCluskey had been ejected from his family home in Grangemouth, Stirlingshire, after a dispute with other family members, including his father Charles, Falkirk Sheriff Court was told.

A short time later, McCluskey, 31, who had been drinking, returned with a knife.

Prosecutor Graham McLachlan said: “He became involved in a struggle with his father. His brother entered the room to assist their father.

“During the course of the struggle the accused stabbed his brother twice on the left arm.”

McCluskey was disarmed, and witnesses called the police.

His brother Kevin McCluskey was taken to the Forth Valley Royal Hospital and received stitches in two arms wounds, one two centimetres long and the other four centimetres long. The court heard that the larger wound was two to three centimetres deep – over an inch.

McCluskey, of Lime Street, Grangemouth, pleaded guilty to assaulting his brother to his severe injury.

Sheriff Craig Caldwell deferred sentence until February 25th for reports, and remanded McCluskey in custody.

He said: “I’d like to have a report so I can be fully informed about the background social circumstances.”
