Glasgow’s Buchanan Galleries was evacuated this afternoon after an emergency alarm was raised.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing hundreds exiting the shopping centre as staff and shoppers were evacuated.

Emergency services attended the scene in large numbers with police, ambulances and fire services in attendence.

Emergency services have now confirmed that the incident was due to a fire alarm.

Staff are reportedly now being allowed to return to their posts but no further information is available as to when shoppers will be allowed back into the shopping centre.
