Glasgow hotel transformation promises 150 jobs
THE renovation of a landmark hotel will create 150 jobs, it was announced yesterday.
The former Central Hotel, above Central Station in Glasgow city centre, will reopen in September after a 20 million makeover to its 186 bedrooms and 21 meeting rooms.
Bought by hotel and conference centre operator Principal Hayley early last year, the new Grand Central Hotel will feature a champagne bar, restaurant and deli, offering jobs in a variety of areas from front of house and reception to events and finance.
Originally opened in 1883, the hotel was a favourite of Gene Kelly, Sir Winston Churchill and John F Kennedy.
