Glasgow Games offer food for thought

The 2014 Commonwealth Games offers the “perfect platform” to showcase Scottish produce, the environment secretary will say today.

More than two million meals will be served over the course of the event in Glasgow. Organisers have urged the Scottish food and drink industry to compete for contracts worth millions.

Rural affairs and environment secretary Richard Lochhead will say: “Scottish food and drink is renowned. Therefore the Commonwealth Games offers the perfect platform as well as a fantastic opportunity for Scottish businesses.

“I would encourage Scottish companies to bid for contracts so that their products can help fuel athletes from around the world to success in 2014.”
