Girls sign up for cancer jab

THE VAST majority of schoolgirls are continuing to sign up to a vaccination programme guarding against the main cause of cervical cancer.

Latest figures from Health Protection Scotland have revealed that 87 per cent of S2 pupils across the Lothians had received the second dose of the HPV vaccine.

That is above the national average, and means thousands of girls are inoculated against the virus which causes around 70 per cent of cervical cancer cases.
