Bea Rutherford compiled the message “not because I want to write to you telling you what a wonderful comics you do but in fact the entire opposite”.

Bea’s father shared the email on his Twitter account prompting much interest with people praising her efforts with it being shared more than 1,000 times.

The email pinpointed two examples. Firstly the lack of female characters in the Guardians of Galaxy prizes on offer.

She said: “Yeah not missing out ANYONE or any of the female characters.... Oh wait actually, you have managed to miss out the ONLY female character.”

The second example was an advertisement to by a Christmas mystery box. Bea noted that the boxes for girls were pink and the ones for boys were blue.

She said: “That is so sexist it’s like.....UNBELIEVABLY SEXIST!!!! What if a kid is a girl but loves gaming? Oh sorry little girl, but you can’t have a Christmas mystery box because you don’t fit into these sexists categories. (WRONG!)”

Bea had sent an email previously but received no reply. However, the Beano replied on Twitter to her father’s post.

It said: “Hi Adam, thanks for flagging this to us, we couldn’t agree more with Bea. This should not have been allowed to happen. We’re replying to Bea directly. Apologies to all our readers.”
