Gifts ruined by torrent of water

A FAMILY had their Christmas ruined after their upstairs neighbour's water pipes burst, bringing down their living room ceiling and releasing a torrent of water which destroyed their presents.

Julie Anderson rushed back from her Tesco job to her home in Linlithgow Bridge after a neighbour phoned to say she could see water pouring out from her front door.

The 42-year-old frantically tried to save her son and daughter's presents from the flood on Thursday in ankle-deep water in the dark, but was only able to salvage one.

Her sofas, television and the youngsters' Nintendo Wii were among the possessions written off.

Julie had to stay with a relative on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day along with her daughter Kayleigh, 15, and son Lewis, 11.
