George Street bid gets nod

Plans to convert former George Street offices into 66 luxury apartments have cleared the first hurdle after planning chiefs approved a bid for listed building consent.

Developer Ama (New Town) Ltd was successful in its application to alter the premises of 127-129 George Street from office use to residential.

Recommending approval, head of planning, John Bury, said: “The alterations are acceptable within the context of a later open-plan interior.”
