The council placed 623 children with foster carers last year – up from 608 in 2011 – but shortages remain in the Capital.

Education, children and families convener Councillor Paul Godzik said: “We are continually trying to increase the number of foster carers in Edinburgh and we are hosting these targeted events to try and reach out to all sectors of the community in the city.”

A separate event is being held on March 14 at Waverley Court on East Market Street in a bid to recruit more respite foster carers. Both sessions start from 5pm.
