Gang admits assault on bar bouncer

A DOOR steward was assaulted by a gang of football hooligans as he tried to calm a mass brawl following a Hearts versus Hibs clash.

Edinburgh Sheriff Court heard Maciek Przybyiski was kicked and punched after trouble broke out at Bar Salsa in Edinburgh's Cowgate on May 1 this year.

Yesterday, Jonathan Bates, 24, and Kevin Watt, 22, admitted repeatedly kicking Polish national Mr Przybyiski. Bates also admitted performing a Nazi salute at him.

Stephen Watt, 20, and Darren Holland, 16, admitted repeatedly punching him on the head. Stephen Watt also admitted smashing a window at Bar Salsa with a traffic cone.

The court heard the incident had been directly related to the football match and Mr Higgins asked for a football banning order to be considered.

Sentence was deferred on Bates, of Hawthornvale, Edinburgh, Stephen and Kevin Watt, of Pilton Park, Edinburgh, and Holland, of Redhall Road, Edinburgh, for the preparation of background reports.

They will have to return to court next month.
