Gamu Nhengu: Facebook fans

Gamu Nhengu has become the focus of national attention after losing out on a place in the X Factor finals.

She won early widespread support after performing a tailored version of Katrina and the Waves' hit Walking on Sunshine. Having survived through the judges' auditions, boot camp and the visits to the judges' houses, Gamu was already a favourite to win.

However, national public outcry was sparked when Gamu's mentor, Cheryl Cole, chose not to send her through to the live finals. Many fans were outraged that Katie Waissel and Cher Lloyd were put through instead. This resulted in an unprecedented Facebook campaign set up by fans. But despite over a quarter of a million irritated fans demanding she be saved, Gamu left before the finals had even begun.
