Gala day is a shore thing

THE Newhaven Gala Day will celebrate the heritage of the old fishing village on Saturday.

Gala Queen Kerryanne Dickson and Fisher King Robbie Fraser will arrive at Newhaven Harbour by boat at around 12.30pm to be piped ashore.

They will be greeted by Victoria Primary pupils dressed as fishermen and fisherwives, Leith steel drummers The Pulse of the Place and a guard of honour from Leith Sea Scouts.

The King and Queen will be crowned in the school playground at around 1pm. The gala day fair will include stalls, games and a barbecue from local cafe Porto & Fi.
