Fur flies as hotel opens

There might be a state-of-the-art enclosure at Edinburgh Zoo, but these giant pandas were clearly after a bit of luxury as they checked in for the grand opening of the new Marriott Residence Inn at the Quartermile development.

The 107-room hotel, the first Residence Inn branded property in the UK, was officially opened on Friday by Scottish Tourism Minister Fergus Ewing, who said: “I am delighted that Edinburgh is home to the first Residence Inn in Scotland.

“They have chosen to make the most of an excellent location in Quartermile which reflects the unique heritage of the city but also underlines the opportunities for development and growth.”
