Funeral set for RAF crash pilot

The funeral of an RAF pilot killed when two Tornado fighter jets plunged into the Moray Firth will take place tomorrow at his Scottish base.

Flight Lieutenant Adam Sanders will be laid to rest at St Aiden’s Church at RAF Lossiemouth at noon.

Three airmen died after two Tornado GR4’s crashed 25 miles south of Wick, Caithness, while on a training exercise on 3 July.

The remains of Flt Lt Sanders and comrade Squadron Leader Samuel Bailey were last week recovered during a salvage operation of the wreckage.

A third airman, Flt Lt Hwyel Poole, 28, died at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness just after being airlifted from the crash with a fourth crewman.
