Fringe chief eyes sponsors

THE Festival Fringe has to do better at attracting commercial sponsors, its boss has said.

Kath Mainland, chief executive of the Festival Fringe Society, said that the Fringe can work better with businesses in the city.

Speaking as preparations continue ahead of the launch of this year's programme, Ms Mainland said: "We do have commercial sponsorship but it is something in which we can do better. For August we will have a community of performers in this city.

"They will spend all their lives here and do the things that everyone else does and one of the things we want to do is bring businesses closer to that community."
