Duncan, 24, of Livingston, West Lothian, pleaded guilty to driving while banned and without insurance.

Graham Fraser, prosecuting, said: “He sustained a skull fracture but, before doctors could fully treat him, he walked out of the hospital.”

Stewart Peebles, defending, claimed Duncan had mainly been riding on dirt tracks. He added: “This was foolish in the extreme. ”

Duncan was jailed for four months and
fined £350.
