Four charged over shoddy work scams

FOUR men have been arrested and charged in connection with a series of bogus worker offences which saw victims in the Capital conned out of around £23,000.

Three of the men, aged 26, 19, and 28, appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday, while a fourth man, aged 32, was set to appear today.

The men are accused of carrying out sub-standard work on the homes of elderly people over the past two years. One of the men has also been charged in connection with a number of distraction thefts.

They were arrested as part of Operation Aristotle, the police campaign targeting bogus callers. Detective Chief Inspector Sara Buchanan said: “We will take robust action against anyone suspected of being engaged in this type of criminality.”
