Four arrested over £250k cannabis find in Cleland

POLICE have arrested two men and two women after uncovering almost £250,000 worth of cannabis in a cottage in North Lanarkshire.

Officers targeted the property in the village of Cleland, North Lanarkshire, yesterday, where they recovered cannabis with an estimated street value of £244,000.

Two men aged 62 and 57 and two women aged 59 and 36 were arrested and were expected to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court.

The operation follows the seizure of cannabis plants worth £1.2 million in Cumbernauld last week.

Officers searched a business property in the town’s Mid Road and recovered more than 2,000 plants on February 4.
