Foundations laid to sort home woes

A CAMPAIGN to tackle homelessness and housing problems has been launched by East Lothian Council.

Residents can seek advice about safeguarding accommodation, identifying suitable housing options, financial obstacles or even disputes with housemates, among a range of other concerns.

Councillor Stuart Currie, cabinet member for housing and community safety, said: "Housing problems can be distressing and the threat of homelessness can be frightening indeed.

"If anyone is having problems that they think might result in them not being able to stay in their current home, I would encourage them to talk to a council officer right away.

"We can provide a lot of help and support if people get in touch as early as possible. East Lothian is a very popular place to live and we do have a very pressured housing situation."
