Former Motherwell and SFA chief left £1.5m

FORMER Motherwell chairman and SFA president Bill Dickie has left almost £1.5 million in his will.

The 81-year-old architect died suddenly on 10 January after suffering an aneurysm.

Papers from Glasgow Sheriff Court revealed the father-of-two left a total of £1,463,705.

It has been instructed that his assets including his £97,000 Motherwell home and £21,000 Jaguar car, have to be left to his daughter, Pamela, and son, Douglas.

Money from a number of bank accounts and insurance policies were also left.

Mr Dickie ended a five-year spell as chairman in 2008 
and was also a former presi-
dent of the Scottish Football 
Association.

Motherwell chief executive Leeann Dempster said at the time of his death: “Everyone is absolutely devastated by Bill’s sudden passing. He was one of those characters that was so bright and bubbly. It has come as a great shock to everyone.”

Mr Dickie spent more than 30 years on the Scottish Premier League club’s board.

The current SFA president, Campbell Ogilvie, issued a statement at the time also on behalf of directors and staff at the 
national body saying they were “shocked and saddened to learn of Bill’s death”.

He said: “He will, indeed, be very much missed by all who knew him and I have many fond memories of working alongside Bill. He was a tremendously passionate and committed administrator of the game.”

Mr Dickie served on the Scottish FA Council for many years.
