Former bishop gets doctorate

FORMER Bishop of Edinburgh Richard Holloway is to be honoured by a Scots university.

Bishop Holloway will receive an honorary doctorate from the University of Stirling in recognition of his "questing mind, all-encompassing humanity and work for the under-privileged". He is one of six personalities to receive honourary degrees this summer.

Bishop Holloway, 76, was Bishop of Edinburgh from 1986 and was elected Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church in 1992. He resigned from these positions in 2000.
