Force reticent over officer’s arrest

A POLICE officer from Scotland’s largest force has been arrested in connection with “ongoing inquiries”.

The 47-year-old officer, from Strathclyde Police, was reportedly arrested at the weekend.

A force spokeswoman would not say what the nature of the inquiries were, or what the police officer had been arrested in relation to.

She said: “We can confirm a 47-year-old police officer was arrested in connection with ongoing enquiries and a report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal.

“It would be inappropriate to comment further on the nature of these inquiries.”

In response to speculation, the force confirmed the arrest was not in relation to the ongoing Operation Rubicon inquiry into allegations of phone hacking.
