Budach yesterday admitted attempted rape when he appeared at the High Court in Glasgow, where he was remanded in custody. He was placed on the sex offenders’ register and will be sentenced next month. The woman, 24, was on her way to a bar with friends when she spoke to Polish-born Budach, who began shouting at her.

Prosecutor Shirley McKenna said Budach, of Hawthornden Place, then grabbed her in a “fireman’s lift” towards nearby bushes.

Miss McKenna told the court: “Footprints were found in the mud (near to the scene of the incident) – these matched the trainers worn by the accused at the time of the offence.”
