Footballers pitching in for veterans

YOUNG footballers at the Dalkeith Miners Club for Young People have had the name and logo of the Mark Wright Project added to their new home strip.

The strip was designed to show the group's support for the Dalkeith-based veterans' charity, set up by Bob and Jem Wright in memory of their son, who died in a minefield in Afghanistan in 2006.

Players showed off the new strip at the club's annual football festival last weekend, where they also presented a cheque for 500 to Mr and Mrs Wright from a fundraising event held in March.

The group's secretary, Jim McMahon, said: "Dalkeith Miners CYP are extremely proud to support the Mark Wright Project. The club has approximately 180 young people ranging in age from under-8s to under-21s, and we hope that by displaying the name of the project, we can raise awareness of this extremely worthwhile cause."
