Ross Colquhoun was playing for Tranent Juniors on Saturday when he unveiled a t-shirt bearing the names “Josh, Jenna, David”, followed by the slogan “forevern in our hearts x”.

But the referee booked him for his celebration against Haddington - even though Colquhoun had told the whistler he was planning on the tribute before the game.

Josh Stewart, 16, Jenna Barbour, 18, and 15-year-old David Armstrong died after a Peugeot 206 they were travelling in crashed into a wall near Tyninghame, East Lothian on November 25.

Ross, who works at Torness nuclear power station, wanted to pay tribute with the t-shirt because he works alongside relatives and friends of the three killed in the accident.

The referee was booed by both sets of fans, according to the player.
