They made off with hand-made cakes, biscuits, juice and bottles of sauces after breaking into storage unit for Foodies in the West Telferton area of Edinburgh overnight on Thursday.

Foodies founder Peter McLean said: “It’s a bizarre one. It is a strange haul they have made off with, from dozens of cakes to bottles of brown sauce.

He added: “The weirdest thing of all is they must have loaded it into our van there, which is covered with bright orange carrots.”

The van, named Victor, is a Volkswagen Caddy with the registration SM59 UTV.

The company has a sit-in, and takeaway cafe in the capital’s Holyrood Road.

Police are investigating.
