Food recycling date revealed

A NEW recycling service for food waste will be up and running in the Capital by 2013, city leaders have confirmed.

The Evening News revealed earlier this year that the city council planned to introduce weekly services. A review of schemes in other cities is already under way and council officials are analysing the costs involved.

Environment leader Councillor Robert Aldridge said: "It is anticipated that trial collections will be followed with a full service being provided by 2013."
