Folk museum faced with closure wins accolade

A HIGHLAND museum staring closure in the face has been named the best visitor experience in the Association of Scottish Visitor Attractions awards.

The Highland Folk Museum in Newtonmore beat other attractions across Scotland to win the accolade in awards sponsored by the Royal Yacht Britannia.

The museum, which has now shut for the winter, is one of a number of facilities being considered for closure by Highland Council due to budget cuts.

"It is a tribute to the vision of its founder."
