Folk band busk to victory and slot in New Year gig

LOCAL folk band Matt Norris and the Moon have been announced as the winners of Hog the Street 2011.

The band will now support Primal Scream, Bombay Bicycle Club and Sons and Daughters at the Concert in the Gardens, part of Edinburgh’s Hogmanay celebrations.

The band were announced as winners after a closely contested “street busking” competition on Princes Street over the weekend, which saw them and the nine other competing acts raise £2743 for the homeless charity Shelter Scotland. They will now open the Concert in the Gardens.
