Flying flag for the forces

a FLAG-RAISING ceremony at the City Chambers on Monday will mark the countdown to Armed Forces Day next Saturday.

The official Armed Forces Day flag, accompanied by a piper, will be escorted down the Royal Mile by the National Standards of the Royal British Legion Scotland and presented to Lord Provost Donald Wilson by the chairman of Veterans Scotland, Colonel Martin Gibson.

The flag will then be hoisted above the City Chambers as the Capital prepares to honour Armed Forces personnel past and present.

Last year, Edinburgh was the host city for National Armed Forces Day which saw a whole weekend of events.
