Fly-tipping cases on rise

CASES of fly-tipping have nearly doubled since the introduction of charges for special uplifts.

Figures for East Lothian show the average number of fly-tipping incidents rose to 80 in the last year compared to an average of 43 per year before charges were introduced in 2009.

The council report also revealed the number of special uplifts being booked has fallen by more than 90 per cent.
