Five people have been seriously injured in a road accident involving two vehicles.

Emergency crews were called to the Duck Bay Marina on the A82 Balloch to Luss road in West Dumbartshire at 7.35pm yesterday.

Two men were airlifted to the Southern General Hospital in Glasgow by air ambulance from the scene with serious head injuries, a man and a woman were taken by ambulance to the Royal Alexandria Hospital in Paisley and another woman was taken to the Western Infirmary in Glasgow, the fire service said.

Fire crews from Balloch and Dumbarton helped the ambulance service and the police.

Group Commander David McCarrey from the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service said the crews used specialist skills and experience to treat the casualties while making the scene safe. He said: “Our thoughts at this moment are with the people affected by this incident.”

Police say the road has been closed while an investigation is carried out.
