Fish farm company to create 100 jobs

A FISH farm operator hopes to create 100 new jobs in an £80 million expansion of its Scottish operation.

Norway-based Marine Harvest already runs 38 farms in Scotland, supporting about 460 jobs.

Chairman Ole Eirik Leroy said: “With people eating more salmon and the need to sustainably increase our production, we believe that further investment in Scotland is good for our business and the Scottish economy, the communities where we operate and our consumers. Because of this, we are looking at investment plans for Scotland in the region of £80 million between 2012 and 2016 that could create around 100 jobs.”
