First group in work initiative start training

THE first group of trainees chosen to take part in an employment initiative set up by The Centre in Livingston and West Lothian College are being put through their paces during a two-week training course.

West Lothian’s Big 50 aims to combat unemployment in the area by getting more people into jobs in the retail and hospitality sector.

The initiative has been created to provide a legacy to Livingston’s 50th anniversary by providing up to 50 West Lothian residents with training and employment in and around The Centre. An initial intake of 18 applicants began the two-week training course on Monday. As part of their training, they will get the chance to improve their CV writing skills and interview techniques, as well as gain industry accredited awards.
